Setup: Economy SMP

Survival with money, selling, an auction house, spawners, crates with earned keys, timed events and a border that grows each week.

A mostly vanilla survival world with a player economy. Players sell what they gather, trade on the auction house, stack spawners and win crate keys at events. The world border grows every week. Nothing that helps a player win is sold.

A player's first hour

  1. They join at the town around spawn: no fighting, building or explosions there.
  2. For their first hour nobody can hurt them (it ends if they attack someone).
  3. /rtp (or /wild) sends them at least 300 blocks out.
  4. They gather, then /sell it. /worth shows what the item in hand is worth.
  5. /daily gives a daily reward; every 7th day in a row adds a crate key.
  6. /ah opens the auction house.
  7. /sethome (three homes), /home, /tpa <player>, and /kit starter once.

Everyone starts with $500.

The world

  • The border starts at 2,000 blocks from the centre. Every Monday at midnight it grows by 500, up to 5,000.
  • /rtp lands between 300 blocks and the border. It needs 3 seconds standing still, has a 30-second cooldown, and does not work in a fight.
  • Fully explored, the largest world takes about 3.3 GB. If a free server's 5 GB fills up, lower Largest size in the setup's settings.
  • The nether border is 625 blocks and the end 5,000, so they cannot fill the disk.
  • On a world you already play in, the setup leaves the border alone.

Money

A diamond sells for $80, and other prices follow from how long an item takes to get. A new player earns about $4,000 an hour.

  • Selling a lot of one item lowers its price for a while (never below 40 percent).
  • The shop charges 3 times the sell price. Crafting or smelting shop items never makes money.
  • The auction house takes 5 percent from the seller. 20 listings each, for 48 hours.
  • Players with under 2 hours played can /pay at most $1,000 a day.
  • Emeralds cannot be sold.

Spawners

Spawners store the loot their mobs would drop while a player is near. They run on charges bought in the spawner menu (500 for $220). Up to 16 stack in one block, 4 blocks per chunk, 64 per player.

TierTypesAbout an hour
1cow, pig, chicken, zombie$250

Set up your spawn

Stand in the right place and run:

  1. /shevents set-location koth 6 on a small hill near town.
  2. /shevents set-location airdrop 400 in the wild. Airdrops land within that many blocks.
  3. /shcrates place daily and /shcrates place event while looking at a block.
  4. /holo board richest money 10 for a leaderboard.
  5. /setwarp market and any other warps.

Until 1 and 2 are done, King of the hill and airdrops are skipped.

Your AI and the settings

See Setup settings for how to change settings. Your AI must ask you first for anything that pays out: crate odds and prizes, spawner loot and limits, events and their prizes, seasons, the largest world size, daily and vote prizes, the shop markup, starting money above 5,000, a sell multiplier above 2, and anything about the safe town. It can never edit files that hand out money, items, keys or spawners. Even a hand-written prize cannot give more than your reward limits: 100,000 money and 2,304 of an item to start, and no netherite set, elytra, mace, enchanted golden apple or totem. Raise or lower them with /shcore settings sh-core reward-limits.max-money 250000 (also max-items and power-cap); your AI asks you first. A spawner, spawn egg or operator item is never a prize.

The plugins

  • Ours (run only on our network): money, shop, auction house, spawners, crates, events, daily rewards, leaderboards, safety, random teleport and warps.
  • EssentialsX: homes, teleport requests, /back, /kit, /msg. Its own money commands are off, so there is one balance. Vault is left out on purpose, so plugins that need it find no economy.
  • WorldGuard and WorldEdit: regions and staff building tools.
  • Grim: anti-cheat that only alerts staff with grim.alerts. It never kicks or bans here.

The free plugins are downloaded at install, pinned to an exact version and checked. There is no permissions plugin. If you add LuckPerms, give your default group the EssentialsX commands (essentials.home, essentials.tpa and so on), or players lose them.

Seasons

The world is permanent. A season ends only when you run /shevents season end or set a season length. A full backup is saved first.
