Crates and keys

Crates with keys earned by playing only, odds always shown, a daily key limit and a good luck guarantee.

Players open crates with keys. Keys are earned by playing only: votes, the daily reward, milestones, events and bosses. They are never sold for real money, and every crate shows its odds.

For players

  • /crates lists crates. Click one to see every prize and its chance, then open 1 to 10 keys.
  • /keys shows your keys, today's count and how to earn each kind.
  • /crates odds <crate> writes the odds in chat.
  • /crates claim collects prizes that waited for inventory space.

To make a block open a crate, look at it and run /shcrates place <crate>. Sneak and break it to remove it.

Rules every crate follows

A crate that breaks a rule is turned off at start or reload, with the reason in the console and in /shcrates check. Other crates keep working.

  • Chances add up to exactly 100 percent, and odds are always shown.
  • No key can come from a purchase, and no prize can be marked as sold.
  • No prize stronger than about 10 hours of play. Netherite gear, enchanted golden apples, totems, elytra, maces and strong spawners are blocked by default; you choose the list.
  • A prize the server cannot deliver (for example money with no economy) turns its crate off.

Keys

  • Daily limit: at most 5 keys a day per player from all sources, including commands (1 to 20).
  • Good luck guarantee: after 50 keys without Epic or better, the next is Epic or better (0 turns it off).
  • Each key source can be turned off. Daily and vote rewards give keys with the give_key action.

Your AI asks you before changing crates or odds.

For you and your staff

  • /shcrates give <player> <key type> <amount> [reason] (counts toward the limit, logged)
  • /shcrates take <player> <key type> <amount>
  • /shcrates check and /shcrates reload

Files: plugins/sh-crates/config.yml and crates.yml. Keys are numbers in a ledger, not items, so they cannot be copied. Every key given, crate opened and prize claimed is in plugins/sh-crates/audit.log, by player ID only.
