Rules and reports
The rules servers follow, our automatic safety checks, how to report a problem, and what we do about it. Nobody is banned automatically.
The legal pages are the full rules. They are drafts a lawyer still has to check. Where this page and they differ, the legal pages win.
The short rules
- Owners are 13 or older. Players need no account.
- Follow Mojang's rules. No pay-to-win: you can sell only cosmetics, not gameplay advantages. Crates cannot be sold for money.
- No attacks, no crypto mining, no using a server to harm other people or services.
- One free server per person. No fake accounts for more servers or credits.
- Keep it kind. Names and MOTDs are filtered before they show in the hub.
- Our setup plugins stay on our network.
/hubstays on every server.
Automatic checks
Nothing bans anyone automatically. A check either does nothing you would notice, flags something for a person, or in two clear cases stops one server.
We stop a server only for:
- Crypto mining: reaching mining pools while the processor runs flat out with nobody online.
- Attack traffic: floods of traffic, or scanning other addresses, for a good part of an hour.
The first time, the server stops and you are told why; you can start it again at once. If it happens again within a day, it stays stopped until a person checks it, usually within a day. Players read "This server is paused while our team checks it." Your account, other servers, credits and backups are not touched.
These only raise a flag for a person: blocked outgoing connections, a hand-uploaded jar that matches a known bad file, heavy processor use with nobody online, signs of several accounts per person, and player reports.
To spot many accounts per person we keep a scrambled code for your network and browser, never the address. It only raises a flag; families and schools sharing a network are fine. Codes are deleted after 90 days.
The anti-cheat in our premade setups only flags players to staff unless you turn on kicks or bans.
Reporting
- A player in our hub: type
/report <name> <reason>. The report carries the reported line and a few lines around it; no other chat is kept. - On your own server: players report to you through your own plugins.
- A child in danger or illegal content: report it the same way or email us. If we learn of child sexual abuse material, we report it to the authorities.
Never put passwords or personal details in a report.
What we do
Each step comes only after a person has looked.
- We review the report.
- The owner gets a warning saying what to fix.
- If it goes on, the server is unlisted from the hub. It still works by address.
- If it still goes on or causes harm, the server is suspended.
You can still export your worlds, configs and plugins through every step, unless the problem is illegal content. Hub bans and mutes apply only in the hub.
If you disagree
Write to us and a different person looks again. We have not set the exact way to appeal a warning or an unlisted server yet.
