Getting started
Sign up, make a server, and join it.
You need to be 13 or older to make an account. Players who join your server need no account. Quarry Hosting is in beta, so some things will change.
1. Sign up
- On the Quarry Hosting website, choose Sign up.
- Use an email and a password, or Discord.
- With email, open the link we send to verify it. Discord accounts count as verified.
You need a verified email before you can make a server. See Signing up and signing in.
2. Make a server
Choose Make a server. There are five short steps.
- Setup. A blank server (latest Paper, nothing installed) or a premade setup. You can change almost everything later.
- Name and address. The address is
name.quarrymc.net: 3 to 20 lowercase letters, numbers and hyphens, first come, first served. Some words (admin, hub, play, staff, status) are kept back and rude words are blocked. - Region. Pick the one closest to your players. During the beta only North America is open.
- Memory. 2 GB is free. Bigger sizes are paid, per GB each month. See Credits and plans.
- Make it. Tick the box to accept the Minecraft EULA, then press Make server. A server cannot start without it.
If your AI made the server, the EULA box appears the first time you press Start server. Only you or a co-owner can tick it.
3. Join to wake it
New servers are made asleep. The next screen shows the address with a Copy button.
- Open Minecraft Java Edition.
- Choose Multiplayer, Add Server, paste the address and join.
- The server wakes in about 20 seconds and lets you in.
To add plugins first, press Start server, then Open the panel. The server sleeps again when nobody is on. See Sleeping and waking.
New servers run Paper on the current Minecraft version (26.2 in these docs). You can let older versions down to 1.8 join in Versions and software, and Bedrock players with crossplay.
What the free plan gives you
One server, 2 GB of memory, about 5 GB of disk and the full panel: console, files, SFTP and plugins. No player limit and no world border. It sleeps 5 minutes after the last player leaves, and shows a small "hosted free on Quarry Hosting" line in the player list. If our free space is full, a new free server waits in line to start. Paid servers never wait.
Next steps
- Connect your AI, if you want. It is optional.
- Link your Minecraft account to be made operator on your server.
- Make a backup before big changes.
